This is a beautiful idea! Using a neglected street underpass in downtown Birmingham, Alabama, artist Bill Fitzgibbons created a specific art installation controlled by a computerized LED light system. The project titled "Light Rails" illuminates the dark and uninviting underpass with thousands of colors encouraging pedestrian traffic. The installation created in collaboration with REV Birmingham is part of a master plan being developed by a team of local artists, designers and lighting experts, aiming to create a vision for liveliness, connectivity, community cohesiveness and a greater sense of security in Birmingham by illuminating key structures and pedestrian traffic points within the City Center and surrounding districts. See more here
